All State Trucking, Paving and Construction handles asphalt driveway paving in Waycross and across southeast Georgia. We pave new hot mix asphalt driveways for homes and farms, along with extensions, turnarounds, walkways and parking pads. The hot mix comes from a local asphalt plant. Our paving machine lays it, and our vibratory roller packs it into a smooth, finished surface.
Hot mix driveways are one part of our work as an asphalt paving contractor in Waycross. Our specialty is recycled asphalt driveways, laid with the same paving machine and roller. Either way, the written quote covers the hauling to your drive. Call or text (912) 239-0212 for a free estimate.
Tell us about the driveway, parking lot or private road and where it is. We look at the job and put a free estimate in writing.

The hot mix is the top layer. Under it sits a base of crushed stone, packed hard, on top of firm native ground. That base carries the weight, so a weak spot below shows up as ruts and cracks above. A drive that takes loaded farm trucks needs a thicker base and more asphalt than a drive for cars.
Most ground around Waycross is flat loamy sand that drains poorly, according to federal soil maps. At its seasonal high, the water table can reach the surface. Waycross averages about 50 inches of rain a year, and close to 20 of it falls from June through August. Standing water is the leading cause of driveway failure, says the asphalt industry's national trade group.
So every drive starts with driveway grading. We shape a crown or a side slope so rain runs off the edges. Asphalt trade guidance calls for about a quarter inch of slope per foot from the crown to the edge. Machine grading counts as digging under Georgia law, so buried lines get marked through Georgia 811 first.
Hot mix leaves the plant hot, and it has to be rolled before it cools. The asphalt industry's engineering institute puts the cutoff at 185 degrees Fahrenheit. Our paving machine spreads the mix at an even depth, and the vibratory roller works close behind it.
Rolling squeezes out air and presses the stone and asphalt into a dense mat. Loose hot mix packs down to about three quarters of its depth under the roller. A mat left with too many air pockets lets air and water soak into the pavement. The roller keeps passing until the roller marks are gone.
Paving needs warm, dry weather, and a steady rain stops the work. Summer storms around Waycross can push a paving day back, and we set a new date with you. Fresh fill around a new house can settle, and trade guidance says waiting several months can pay off.
Waycross averages about 100 days a year at 90 degrees or hotter. New asphalt scuffs more easily in that kind of heat. Turning the steering wheel while the car sits still is a common cause of scuffs. Hot mix usually cures in 30 to 90 days, according to the sealcoating industry's trade group.
Keep water from standing on the drive or resting along its edges. Down the road, sealcoating helps protect the surface. We can tell you when your drive is ready for it.

We grade the drive or the lot first when it needs it. Then our dump trucks bring the material, and we lay it and compact it.
We go over the finished work with you. A new recycled asphalt drive keeps tightening as it cures over the next months.
