Recycled asphalt driveways are our specialty at All State Trucking, Paving and Construction. The material is asphalt millings: old asphalt that has been ground up for reuse. We lay pure crushed, screened millings with a paving machine. Then a vibratory roller packs them in.

When a road gets resurfaced, a milling machine grinds off the old top layer. The Federal Highway Administration says one pass can remove up to 2 inches. That ground asphalt is called millings, and most of it gets crushed and screened at processing yards. Most of those yards sit at hot mix asphalt plants.
Once crushed and screened, millings are a good mix of stone sizes coated in old asphalt, per the same agency. That old asphalt becomes the binder, says a federal gravel roads manual. A binder is the glue that holds the stone together.
Millings wait in stockpiles, and soil or even debris can get mixed in, the agency notes. We lay pure crushed, screened millings. They are double ground, which means the crushed asphalt gets ground twice.
A millings drive is only as good as the ground under it. The same manual calls for at least 3 inches of recycled asphalt, compacted, over firm ground. So ruts and soft spots get graded out before the millings come in.
Then our dump trucks bring in the millings. The paving machine spreads them across the drive in an even layer. The vibratory roller follows and presses them down tight. The millings keep tightening and curing for months after that.
Long rural drives get the same steps. A long drive takes many truckloads, and the hauling is part of the written quote. Farm lanes and private roads fall under our private road paving work.
NOAA's climate normals give Waycross about 83 days a year that hit 90 degrees or more. The gravel roads manual notes that in hot weather, recycled asphalt can take on the character of pavement. That heat works in a millings drive's favor.
Rain is the harder test, at about 50 inches a year in the same normals. Federal soil data rates most of Ware County's ground as poorly drained. So the base and the shape of the drive matter as much as the millings on top.
After a hard rain, look for spots where water sits on your drive. Those low spots need grading before any millings go down.

We grade the drive or the lot first when it needs it. Then our dump trucks bring the material, and we lay it and compact it.
We go over the finished work with you. A new recycled asphalt drive keeps tightening as it cures over the next months.
